Description
Oliver's Taranga Shiraz is grown on a McLaren Vale property farmed by the same family since 1841.
McLaren Vale lies south of Adelaide between the Mount Lofty Ranges and the Gulf St Vincent, and the sea breeze that runs through it moderates the warmth enough for Shiraz to keep freshness alongside its depth. The Oliver family arrived from Dumfriesshire in 1839 and planted here two years later; the wines have been made under their own label since 1994, with Corrina Wright the sixth-generation winemaker. Fruit is fermented in open vessels and matured in French and American oak.
Serve at 17 degrees with barbecued lamb, beef ribs or aged cheddar. It drinks well now and holds for a decade.
