Description
Olivier Leflaive Saint Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly comes from a premier cru that runs right up to the boundary of Le Montrachet.
Saint-Aubin sits in a side valley behind the hill that carries Chassagne and Puligny-Montrachet, and for years it was overlooked largely because it was out of sight of the main road. En Remilly is its most celebrated climat, on the steep, stony slope adjoining the grand crus of Le Montrachet and Chevalier-Montrachet, on the same limestone and at slightly higher elevation. Most of Saint-Aubin is planted to Chardonnay, and an unusually high proportion of the appellation is classified premier cru, which is why the village has become one of the more sought-after names on the Côte. Olivier Leflaive established his house in neighbouring Puligny-Montrachet in 1984.
Serve at around 11 to 12 degrees with seafood, roast pork or soft cheese; it drinks well early but will hold for five years or so.
