Paolo Scavino Barolo 'Bricco Ambrogio' DOCG 2021

Paolo Scavino Barolo 'Bricco Ambrogio' DOCG comes from a hillside in Roddi, the northernmost and least familiar of the eleven communes entitled to the Barolo name.

Roddi sits at the top of the Barolo zone, closer to Alba than to Serralunga, and its calcareous marl slopes were long overlooked in favour of the better known villages further south. Scavino took on the Bricco Ambrogio site at the start of the 2000s and has done much to establish its reputation as a serious cru. The family estate dates to 1921 and has been directed by Enrico Scavino since the 1950s, latterly with his daughters Enrica and Elisa. As across the range, the Nebbiolo is fermented with an extended maceration and aged in French oak before bottling.

Decant before serving at around 18 degrees alongside braised meats, agnolotti or a mushroom ragu.
