Paolo Scavino Barolo 'Monvigliero' DOCG 1.5L MAGNUM 2021

Paolo Scavino Barolo 'Monvigliero' DOCG comes from the most celebrated vineyard in Verduno, at the northern end of the Barolo zone.

Monvigliero is a broad amphitheatre of vines facing south over the Tanaro valley, and it has long been regarded as the finest site in Verduno, a commune whose Barolos are known for their finesse rather than sheer weight. Growers here have historically favoured long, patient macerations and large oak, an approach the site seems to invite. Paolo Scavino, based at Castiglione Falletto, has been in family hands since 1921 and has been led by Enrico Scavino since the 1950s, now with his daughters Enrica and Elisa. The Nebbiolo is fermented with an extended maceration and aged in French oak.

It suits a long lunch of roast veal, truffle-dressed pasta or aged Castelmagno, and rewards both a generous decant and further years in the cellar.
