Paul Bara Comtesse Marie de France is a vintage blanc de noirs made entirely from grand cru Pinot Noir grown in Bouzy.

Comtesse Marie de France is Paul Bara's blanc de noirs, made entirely from Pinot Noir grown within grand cru Bouzy and named for a figure remembered in the village's own history. Bouzy faces south on the Montagne de Reims, where chalk lies close beneath a thin, warm topsoil, and it is the ripeness of Pinot Noir here rather than any Chardonnay component that gives the wine its shape. The Bara family has worked these parcels since 1833 and reserves the oldest and best sited of them for this cuvée. It is a vintage wine, aged for many years on lees before disgorgement and finished with six grams per litre of dosage.

Rich and firmly built, with the weight to handle roast game bird, veal or a mature hard cheese; serve at around eleven or twelve degrees.
