Description

Paul Gadenne Chignin Bergeron Roussanne comes from a certified organic plot of 50-year-old vines yielding just 25 hectolitres per hectare.

Bergeron is the local Savoyard name for Roussanne, and Chignin-Bergeron is the appellation where the variety reaches its most complete expression in France outside the northern Rhône. Gadenne's fruit comes from a single organically certified plot of 0.4 hectares on calcareous clay with a westerly aspect, planted at a dense 7,500 vines per hectare, which keeps yields to a low 25 hectolitres per hectare. The fruit was hand-picked and pressed gently over about two hours, then fermented in stainless steel. The wine went through full malolactic fermentation and was aged for six months on its lees in tank, with no oak, an approach that keeps the variety's texture and stone-fruit weight without adding to it.

Drink over the next four or five years with freshwater fish, roast chicken or a fondue. Serve at 10-12°C.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
