Pierre-Marie Chermette Beaujolais Les Griottes is a semi-carbonic Gamay from dark granite soils around the family home at Saint-Vérand.

Saint-Vérand lies in the southern part of Beaujolais, below the ten crus, in the zone that carries the straight Beaujolais appellation. Domaine Chermette has been based here for four decades and is one of the names that helped restore the region's standing after the nouveau boom faded. Les Griottes is drawn from 20 to 40-year-old vines on the dark granite soils around the homestead. The winemaking has not changed in decades: traditional whole-bunch, semi-carbonic fermentation in concrete tanks, then maturation split between tank and ancient oak casks, with no new wood anywhere in the process. That approach keeps the fruit forward and the tannins soft, and it is the reason this cuvée reads as a straightforward, cherry-driven Beaujolais rather than something reaching for cru weight. It is sealed under screwcap.

Drink young, within two or three years. Serve lightly chilled at 13-15°C with charcuterie, roast chicken or a mushroom omelette.
