Poderi Aldo Conterno Conca Tre Pile Barbera d'Alba is a Barbera from a named hollow of vineyard at Monforte d'Alba, made by one of Barolo's most traditional houses.

Aldo Conterno left the family firm in 1969 to set up on his own in the Bussia district of Monforte d'Alba, and the estate is now among the most admired in Piedmont. Barbera is the everyday grape of Piedmont, planted far more widely than Nebbiolo and long treated as the workhorse of the region, though growers in the Alba hills have spent the past few decades proving what it can do from good sites. Conca Tre Pile takes its name from a bowl shaped parcel within the estate's Monforte holdings. The wine is matured in French oak barrels, a departure from the large Slavonian casks used for the Barolo, and a choice that has become common for serious Barbera in the Alba hills.

A good match for salumi, agnolotti, roast pork or tomato based dishes, served at around 16 degrees.
