Poderi Aldo Conterno 'Granbussia Riserva' Barolo DOCG 1.5L MAGNUM 2013

Poderi Aldo Conterno 'Granbussia Riserva' Barolo DOCG is the estate's flagship Barolo, made only in vintages the family considers worthy of it.

Aldo Conterno left the family firm in 1969 to set up on his own in the Bussia district of Monforte d'Alba, and the estate is now among the most admired in Piedmont. Granbussia is drawn from the three parcels the estate farms within the Bussia amphitheatre, Romirasco, Cicala and Colonnello, with Romirasco providing the greater share. It is made in the traditional manner, fermented at length on skins and matured in large Slavonian oak casks, then held back for years in bottle so that it reaches the market long after the ordinary bottlings of the same harvest. In lesser years it is not made at all, which is why Granbussia appears only sporadically and in small quantity.

A wine for the table and for patience, best with braised or roasted meat and aged cheese; decant several hours ahead and serve at around 18 degrees.
