Pol Roger Blanc de Blancs Gift Box 2015

Pol Roger Blanc de Blancs Gift Box is a vintage champagne made entirely from Chardonnay, presented in a gift carton.

Blanc de blancs means white from whites, a champagne built only from white grapes, which in practice means Chardonnay. Pol Roger, founded in Épernay in 1849 and still owned and directed by the founding family, makes this wine only in declared vintages, drawing on Chardonnay from the villages of the Côte des Blancs. It then matures for many years on its lees in cellars cut some thirty metres into the chalk below Épernay, which are notably cold and which the house credits for the slow, fine bead of its wines. Every bottle is riddled by hand, a practice almost all of Champagne long ago handed over to machines, and the wine is released only after a long rest that the family is unwilling to shorten.

Serve at 8 to 10 degrees with oysters, sashimi, delicate white fish or simply on its own before a meal.
