Description

Ravensworth Single Clone Sangiovese VCR23 2025 is a single-clone Sangiovese from the Canberra District in Australia.

VCR23 comes from Emilia-Romagna, north-east of Tuscany, and was selected for its ability to hold up in cooler climates - useful in the high, cold Canberra District. It is the second release in Ravensworth's clonal series: where the MAT7 bottling runs to red fruit, VCR23 is the darker and more structured of the pair, with more spice. Tasting the two side by side is the point of the exercise.

Expect darker fruit, spice and firmer structure than a typical red-fruited Sangiovese, with the variety's dry, grippy finish intact. Serve at 16 to 18 degrees with braised beef, ragu, grilled lamb or aged hard cheese.
