Description
Reichsrat von Buhl Pfalz Riesling Trocken is the estate's dry entry-level Riesling, drawn from certified organic vineyards in the Mittelhaardt.
The Mittelhaardt is the warm heart of the Pfalz, sheltered by the Haardt hills, and von Buhl is one of its historic estates, founded in 1849 with holdings around Deidesheim, Forst and Ruppertsberg. This wine comes from those sandstone-rich sites, all of them farmed organically and certified. In the cellar most of the juice ferments naturally in tank, with some parcels fermented in the estate's oval Doppelstück oak casks. Even at this level the wine is given extended ageing on gross lees, around six months, which builds texture. The estate avoids pumping, moving the wine by gravity where it can, and uses very little added sulphur. The result is a dry Riesling with rocky texture, citrus-edged acidity and a finish that stops just short of absolutely dry.
Drink over the next three to five years; serve at 10-12°C with schnitzel, roast pork, seafood or as an aperitif by the glass.
