Description

Robert & Bernard Plageoles Le Braucol is a Gaillac red made entirely from Braucol, the south-western name for Fer Servadou.

Gaillac, on the Tarn upstream of Toulouse, is one of the oldest vineyard areas in France and holds a deep bank of local varieties that the Plageoles family has spent three generations recovering. Braucol is the local name for Fer Servadou, called Mansois in Marcillac. This cuvée comes from a parcel of thirty to thirty-five year old vines grown on clay and limestone. Florent Plageoles now vinifies it with fifty per cent whole bunches, which has made the wine brighter and more drinkable; yields are low, ageing takes place in cement tank alone and the wine goes into bottle unfiltered. What results is red-fruited and sappy with a herbaceous, inky twist at the close. The label reads Bro'cool, for the brothers Florent and Romain, and the wine has become a fixture in bars à vins across France.

Made for drinking young. Serve lightly chilled at 14-16°C with charcuterie, grilled sausages or a tomato and olive tart.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
