Rocche Costamagna Barbera d'Alba DOC 2022

Rocche Costamagna Barbera d'Alba DOC comes from La Morra, in the heart of the Barolo zone, where Barbera is the grape growers have always kept for their own table.

Barbera d'Alba covers the hills around Alba, and within the Barolo communes it takes the sites Nebbiolo does not claim, which in a village like La Morra still means very good land. The variety ripens with naturally high acidity, which is why it became the daily red of Piedmont and why, in careful hands, it also makes a serious wine. Rocche Costamagna farms on the Annunziata slope in La Morra, a hillside of calcareous marl better known for Barolo. The Barbera is fermented on skins and given a period of oak ageing before bottling, in the manner usual in Alba, where the aim is to give the variety a frame without covering it.

A versatile wine for the table with salumi, braised meats, tomato based sauces and hard cheeses; serve at 16 to 18°C.
