Swinney Grenache 2025

Swinney Grenache 2025 is a Grenache from Frankland River in the Great Southern, Western Australia.

Matt Swinney's interest in the southern Rhone and Priorat led him to plant bush-vine Grenache on the family property's ironstone hilltops back in the 1990s, at a point when nobody else in Frankland River was growing the variety. Those plantings are now the basis of the wine. Frankland River is an inland, continental part of the Great Southern, with warm days, cold nights and a long season.

Grenache from cooler inland sites tends to be perfumed and red-fruited, with raspberry and dried herb, light tannin and a dusty, savoury finish. Serve at 14 to 16 degrees, a touch below room temperature, with lamb, roast duck, grilled vegetables or a tomato-based dish.
