Description

Swinney Syrah 2025 is a Syrah from Frankland River in the Great Southern, Western Australia.

The Swinney site has a strong reputation for Syrah in Western Australia, with at least one writer reaching for Hermitage rather than Grange as the comparison - a remark about style, meaning savoury and medium-bodied rather than sweet and broad. Fruit was hand-harvested from the Wilsons Pool vineyard and from Powderbark vines now around thirty years old. Frankland River's cold nights hold acidity through a long ripening season.

Expect a peppery, savoury Syrah with dark cherry and plum, firm but fine tannin and a long finish rather than obvious sweetness. Serve at 16 to 18 degrees with roast lamb, beef, duck or anything grilled over coals.
