Tenuta San Guido Le Difese IGT 2023

Tenuta San Guido Le Difese IGT is a Tuscan red from the Bolgheri estate that gave the world Sassicaia.

Tenuta San Guido lies on the Tuscan coast at Bolgheri, where the Incisa della Rocchetta family planted Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1940s at a time when the area was thought marginal for serious wine. The success of Sassicaia rewrote the map of Italian wine, gave rise to the Super Tuscan category and eventually earned Bolgheri a denomination of its own. Le Difese sits at the more approachable end of the estate range, built around Cabernet Sauvignon with a substantial share of Sangiovese, the classic variety of central Tuscany, and released under the broad Toscana IGT designation. It spends a shorter period in oak than its senior siblings and is made for earlier drinking.

A good match for grilled red meats, roast lamb and hard aged cheeses; serve at around 17 degrees.
