Tormaresca Chardonnay IGT 2024

Tormaresca Chardonnay IGT is an unoaked white from Puglia, the long heel and spur of southern Italy.

Tormaresca is the Antinori family's Puglian venture, built around two estates: Bocca di Lupo in the Murge hills of Castel del Monte in the north of the region, and Masseria Maìme in the Salento to the south. Puglia is one of Italy's largest wine regions, and for much of the twentieth century it supplied blending material to the north; the last few decades have seen it reinvented as a source of wines in their own right. Chardonnay does best in the cooler, more elevated vineyards of the region, where limestone soils, altitude and sea air together keep the wine fresh in a hot climate. This bottling is picked early to hold acidity, then fermented in stainless steel and bottled without any oak.

Serve well chilled, at around 10 degrees, with seafood, grilled vegetables, chicken or fresh cheeses. It is made for drinking young.
