Tua Rita Rosso dei Notri IGT 2024

Tua Rita Rosso dei Notri IGT is a Tuscan red from Suvereto on the Maremma coast, made by the estate that did as much as any to prove what that stretch of country could do.

Tua Rita was founded in the mid 1980s by Rita Tua and her husband Virgilio Bisti, on land in the Val di Cornia well south of the Chianti heartland and close enough to the Tyrrhenian to feel its influence. The estate built its name on international varieties, above all Merlot, at a time when the coastal strip was still largely unproven and the wines had to be sold as humble table wine. Rosso dei Notri is the house's most approachable bottling, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc made in a deliberately unfussy style and released young, for the table rather than the cellar.

It suits everyday Italian cooking, from tomato-based pastas to grilled sausages and pizza, and is best served a little below room temperature, at around 16 degrees.
