Description
Two Hands Gnarly Dudes Shiraz is a Barossa Valley red drawn from old plantings across the valley floor.
The Barossa holds some of the oldest continuously producing Shiraz vines on earth, protected from phylloxera by South Australia's quarantine laws, and its warm days and cool nights give the variety its dark, generous character. Two Hands was set up in 1999 by Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz with a focus on sourcing parcels rather than owning a single estate, and Gnarly Dudes takes its name from the gnarled old bush vines that supply it. The fruit is fermented in small open vessels and matured in French oak, a portion of it new.
Serve at 17 degrees with barbecued beef, lamb shoulder or hard cheese. It drinks well young and holds for eight years.
