Description

Tyrrell's Hunter Valley Shiraz is a medium-bodied red in the savoury style the region is known for.

The Hunter is warm and humid but harvests early, which is why its Shiraz carries earth and spice at moderate alcohol rather than the weight of South Australia. Tyrrell's has been at Pokolbin since 1858, now in its fifth generation. The wine is fermented in open vats and matured in large old oak, so that the vineyard rather than the wood shapes it.

Serve at 16 degrees with roast lamb, mushroom dishes or aged cheddar. Drink over the next eight years.
