Verget Mâcon-Bussières Vignes de Montbrison is a Chardonnay from one of the oldest plots in the vineyard below the Roche de Vergisson.

Mâcon-Bussières is one of the named village appellations of the Mâconnais, sitting in the cluster of communes around Vergisson and Solutré that also gives Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint-Véran. Maison Verget is the négociant house founded by Jean-Marie Guffens at Sologny, working on long-term contracts with growers across the Mâconnais and the Côte de Beaune, with a cellar approach built on early picking, whole-bunch pressing and restrained handling. The Mâcon-Bussières vineyard lies to the north of the Roche de Vergisson, directly below the village of the same name, on a gentle southeast-facing slope. The soil is shallow, predominantly clay and limestone, and carries numerous stones, which helps drainage and keeps the wines taut. Verget's bottling is drawn from one of the oldest plots in the vineyard, where the vines are over forty years old.

Good drinking now and holding for four or five years. Serve at 10-12°C with grilled fish, roast chicken or a cheese soufflé.
