Description
Villa Russiz Collio Malvasia DOC is a dry white from the hills of the Collio in Friuli, made from Malvasia Istriana.
Villa Russiz sits at Capriva del Friuli in the Collio, the band of hills along the Slovenian border that is widely regarded as one of Italy's finest white wine districts. The estate was founded in 1868 by the French count Théodore de La Tour, who brought French grape varieties and winemaking methods to the area. It is now run as a foundation, with the proceeds of the estate supporting a children's charity. The Collio's soil, a layered marl and sandstone known locally as ponca, is the defining feature of its wines. Malvasia Istriana is the dry, lightly aromatic form of Malvasia grown around the northern Adriatic.
It suits shellfish, grilled fish, prosciutto di San Daniele and vegetable dishes; serve at around 10 to 12 degrees.
