Description
Wirra Wirra Hiding Champion Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, dry white from the cool slopes of the Adelaide Hills.
Although the winery's home is McLaren Vale, where it was founded in 1894 and revived by cousins Greg and Roger Trott in 1969, the fruit for this wine comes from the higher, cooler Adelaide Hills, one of Australia's leading regions for Sauvignon Blanc. The name is a tribute to the late Greg Trott, who was well known for vanishing without notice and earned the nickname among his colleagues. The juice is fermented cool in stainless steel with no oak, giving a clean, zesty style that is bottled early to hold its freshness.
Best served straight from the fridge. It suits oysters, salt and pepper squid, Thai salads, goat's cheese and fresh summer vegetables, and it is a reliable aperitif. Drink it young, within a couple of years of vintage.
