A broad-based take on the Bordeaux shape, drawn to bring structured, tannic wines into harmony.

Zalto Glas is a family glassworks in Austria's Kremstal, where every piece is mouth-blown by hand and made without lead, the bowls angled to 24, 48 and 72 degrees after the tilt of the earth. This is the shape for wines rich in structure and fruit concentration, and for wines carrying real tannin. The base of the bowl is broader than most Bordeaux stems, which gives a firm wine somewhere to spread and soften before the walls draw in towards the rim and pull the aromatics back together. That combination is what brings potent, concentrated wines into proportion instead of letting either their fruit or their grip run ahead. It works as the name suggests with Bordeaux, Brunello di Montalcino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz, and just as convincingly with Nebbiolo, Gamay and Pinot, so the name is not the limit of it.

A good match for structured reds of most origins; supplied as a two pack. Hand-wash in warm water without detergent and dry with a lint-free cloth.
