Zalto Burgundy Glass Single Pack

A single Burgundy stem, with the widest bowl in the range and the greatest surface area to match.

Zalto Glas is a family glassworks in Austria's Kremstal, where every piece is mouth-blown by hand and made without lead, the bowls angled to 24, 48 and 72 degrees after the tilt of the earth. The Burgundy glass is designed around exposure. Its wide bowl presents a large surface, so the separate components of a wine open and show in turn, with precision rather than all at once. Wines that are tightly wound gain from that, and so do wines that are old and complex, where the point is to miss nothing at all. Anything young and already open tends to do better in one of the smaller Zalto shapes, which keep it gathered instead of spreading it thin. For all its width the bowl holds the house angle, and the walls stay thin from the stem through to the rim.

An obvious partner for Burgundy, though what else you use it for is a matter of imagination; supplied as a single glass. Hand-wash in warm water without detergent and dry with a lint-free cloth.
