Zalto Glas is a family glassworks in Austria's Kremstal, where every piece is mouth-blown by hand and made without lead, the bowls angled to 24, 48 and 72 degrees after the tilt of the earth. The White Wine shape keeps the bowl tight so a cold serve stays cold, and closes the rim enough to hold aromatic lift in a narrow line rather than letting it spread. That is what makes it right for young Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and other racy aromatics, and for young Chablis, where precision matters more than breadth. Lighter-bodied reds work for the same reason. Anyone who knows the Riedel Riesling and Sangiovese stem will find this its closest relative. We use it for Sherry, some sparkling wine and spirits too: it was the glass at our Cognac Tesseron tastings, and Melanie Tesseron was won over by it.

A capable general glass for whites, reds, fortifieds and spirits alike; supplied as a six pack. Hand-wash in warm water without detergent and dry with a lint-free cloth.
