Description
Description
42 Degrees South Pinot Noir comes from the Coal River Valley, inland from Hobart in southern Tasmania.
The name is the island's latitude, which is roughly that of Central Otago in the southern hemisphere and of the Rhône in the northern. The Coal River Valley is one of the driest wine districts in Australia, sheltered from westerly weather, with cold nights that give Pinot Noir high natural acidity. The wine is made in an approachable style with restrained oak.
Serve at 15 degrees with duck, salmon or mushroom dishes. Drink within six years.
