Alamos Torrontés 2024

Alamos Torrontés is a fresh, floral Argentine white made from grapes grown in the high-altitude vineyards of Salta.

Alamos is the value-focused range from the Catena family, who did much to put Argentine wine on the international map, and the label takes its name from the poplar trees that line vineyards across the country's wine regions. Torrontés is Argentina's signature white grape, and it reaches its most expressive form in Salta in the far north, where vineyards in the Calchaquí Valleys sit at some of the highest elevations in the world. Strong sunlight during the day and cold nights give the grapes intense floral perfume while holding on to fresh acidity. The wine is made to keep that aromatic lift front and centre, with citrus and white fruit and a crisp, dry finish.

Serve well chilled as an aperitif or with lightly spiced food. It is lovely with ceviche, prawn and lemongrass salads, Thai green curry or empanadas filled with chicken or cheese. Drink it young, while the floral character is at its brightest.
