Description

Cottà is a cru in the commune of Neive that the Rocca family has owned since the 1970s but has bottled separately only since the 2015 vintage.

Barbaresco takes in four communes, and Neive is the largest of them, lying east of Barbaresco village. Cottà faces south-west on marly ground where limestone predominates and clay and sand are present in small amounts, a Tortonian imprint the estate associates with complex, long-lived wines. The vines were planted between 1962 and 1996. The Rocca family has bottled at Barbaresco for four generations, the winery in its present form dating from around 1960, and it is run today by Angelo Rocca's daughters Daniela, Monica and Paola, with Carlo Castellengo as agronomist and winemaker. Eighteen hectares are worked under Guyot and sustainable certification, ten of them Nebbiolo, for about 100,000 bottles a year across the range. Cottà spends around twenty months in oak cask and then a few months in bottle before release.

Open it after a few years, or decant it. Serve at 16-18°C with braised beef, roast pork or an aged Toma.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
