Alfredo Maestro El Rey Del Glam 2020

El Rey del Glam is a 100% Garnacha from Alfredo Maestro, blending fruit from two very different corners of Castilla y León: half from granite soils high in the Sierra de Gredos at Navarredondilla, Ávila, at 1,100 metres, and half from the deep sandy soils around Peñafiel at 700-920 metres, where granite mixes with sand, clay and limestone.

Alfredo Maestro is one of Spain's most respected natural winemakers, a self-taught vigneron who began working in Peñafiel in the late 1990s and gradually abandoned chemical treatments in the vineyard and cellar in favour of a minimal-intervention, terroir-first approach. El Rey del Glam is made using carbonic maceration, a technique more associated with Beaujolais than Castilla, giving the wine its vivid, juicy fruit.

Bright, perfumed and easy-drinking, it's best served lightly chilled at around 12-13 degrees with charcuterie or light grilled dishes.
