Franciacorta

Franciacorta is Italy's answer to Champagne, made in Lombardy by the same traditional method - a second fermentation in the bottle, then years resting on the lees before release. It is a world away from Prosecco, which is made in tank and bottled young, and the best examples stand comparison with Champagne at half the price.
