Description
Allegrini Fieramonte Amarone Classico Riserva DOCG is a single-vineyard Amarone from the hills of Valpolicella, made only in selected years.
Amarone is made by appassimento, the Veneto practice of laying whole bunches out to dry for several months after harvest so the berries lose water and the sugars concentrate; the raisined fruit is then fermented out dry, which is what separates Amarone from the sweet Recioto that preceded it. The Allegrini family has farmed in Fumane, in the Valpolicella Classico zone north-west of Verona, for generations. Fieramonte is a vineyard on the terraced slopes at Marano di Valpolicella, planted to Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta, the last a nearly lost local variety revived in the region. The wine is aged at length in oak before release.
Serve at around 18 degrees with braised and roast meats, game, risotto all'Amarone or a well-aged Monte Veronese; it also stands on its own after dinner. It will keep for two decades or more.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
