Description

Alois Lageder Mimuèt Pinot Noir is a mountain Pinot Noir from the high ground of Alto Adige.

Alto Adige is the northernmost wine region of Italy, German-speaking and alpine, where vineyards climb the valley sides above the Adige river and the swing between hot days and cold nights is severe. That gives Pinot Noir colour and acidity it struggles to find in warmer places. Alois Lageder has farmed here since 1823 and now works its estate biodynamically, with a gravity-fed winery at Magrè built into the hillside. Mimuèt is fermented with a portion of whole bunches and matured in large oak, so the wood sits behind the fruit.

Serve at 15 to 16 degrees with duck, veal, mushrooms or a mature alpine cheese. It will develop over six to eight years.
