Description
Alois Lageder Porer is a Pinot Grigio from vineyards on porphyry soils in the Alto Adige.
The Alto Adige runs along the valley floors and lower slopes of the Italian Alps, where altitude and wide day-night temperature swings give white wines their aromatic definition. Porer takes its name from the site, planted on the mineral-rich porphyry rock common around Magrè, where the Lageder family has been based since 1823. Now in its sixth generation, the estate farms biodynamically and works with growers doing the same. Part of the fruit is fermented on skins and part in large oak, giving the wine more structure and grip than Pinot Grigio usually carries.
Serve at 11 degrees with pork, mushroom dishes or mountain cheeses. Drink over the next five years.
