Amaro Averna 700ml

Amaro Averna is the classic Sicilian amaro, at 29% alcohol.

The recipe is said to have been given to Salvatore Averna by the monks of an abbey near Caltanissetta, in the centre of Sicily, and he began producing it in 1868. It is an infusion of herbs, roots and citrus peel, sweetened with caramel, and is rounder and richer than most amari, with a moderate bitterness.

Serve neat or over ice after dinner, with a slice of orange or lemon.
