Description

Anne Gros & Jean-Paul Tollot L'Encos Pinot Noir is a fresh, perfumed Languedoc red made by two Burgundians in the Minervois hills.

Pinot is an unusual grape for this warm corner of France. Anne Gros, who runs a family domaine in Vosne-Romanée, and her husband Jean-Paul Tollot farm vineyards on dry, stony ground where altitude and wind temper the Mediterranean heat. They pick and extract the Burgundian way, with restrained oak, to keep this red lively and aromatic. Because it sits outside local appellation rules, it's labelled IGP Côtes du Brian, after a small river nearby.

Medium-bodied, with soft tannins and a hint of southern warmth. Serve at 14–16°C with roast duck, charcuterie or mushroom dishes, and enjoy it over the next few years while the fruit is fresh.
