Anne Gros & Jean-Paul Tollot Les Combettes Marselan Côtes du Brian IGP 2024

Anne Gros & Jean-Paul Tollot Les Combettes Marselan is a deeply coloured Languedoc red made from Marselan, a cross of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache.

Bred in France in the 1960s, this grape has found a natural home in the south, where it brings colour and structure along with generous, supple fruit. The couple behind it come from Burgundy: she runs a respected family domaine in Vosne-Romanée, and he's from a Burgundian winemaking family. In the Minervois hills they farm dry, stony vineyards, and because the wines fall outside the local appellation rules they go out under IGP Côtes du Brian.

Ripe dark fruit and fine tannins on a medium-bodied frame. Decant briefly if you're opening it young, then serve at 16–18°C with grilled lamb, cassoulet or a hearty bean stew.
