Antinori Pèppoli Chianti Classico DOCG 375mL 2024

Antinori Pèppoli Chianti Classico DOCG is a Sangiovese from an Antinori estate in the heart of the Chianti Classico zone.

Pèppoli is an estate at San Casciano in Val di Pesa, in the northern part of Chianti Classico, the stretch of hills between Florence and Siena whose boundaries were first drawn by Grand Duke Cosimo III de' Medici in 1716. Wines from the zone must be at least eighty per cent Sangiovese and carry the black rooster on the neck seal. Pèppoli is made in a deliberately open, early drinking style, matured in large oak casks rather than small new barriques so that the wood stays in the background. The Antinori family has been in the Florentine wine trade since 1385, twenty six generations by their own count.

A useful size for one or two at the table. Serve at 16 to 18°C with tomato based pasta, pizza or grilled meats.
