Description
Aphelion The Confluence Grenache brings together fruit from several old bush-vine sites in McLaren Vale.
The name refers to the blending of parcels from different soils across the region: the deep sands of Blewitt Springs give perfume, the heavier clay sites give structure. Rob and Louise Mack have built Aphelion around Grenache since 2014, working almost entirely with old dry-grown vines. Fermentation uses whole bunches and native yeast, with ageing in seasoned French oak.
Serve at 16 degrees with lamb, duck or a mushroom dish. Drink over the next eight years.
