Apsley Gorge Vineyard Pinot Noir 1.5L MAGNUM 2022

Apsley Gorge Vineyard Pinot Noir in magnum is the estate's single vineyard east coast Tasmanian red in the large format suited to slow cellaring.

Apsley Gorge Vineyard lies near Bicheno on Tasmania's east coast, where the Apsley River cuts down through the hills to the sea. The east coast is the driest and one of the warmest parts of the island, sheltered from the prevailing westerly weather by the central highlands, and it gives Pinot Noir more ripeness and structure than the cooler south and north. Brian Franklin established the estate and makes the wine himself, working with low-yielding estate fruit, fermenting in small open vats with hand plunging and maturing the wine in French oak barrels before bottling. The Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is the estate's principal wine and is sealed under screwcap to keep it fresh as it ages.

The magnum suits a table of friends over roast duck, lamb or mushroom risotto; serve at around 15 to 16 degrees.
