Description
Armand Heitz Corton Hautes Mourottes Grand Cru is a red Burgundy from a climat on the Ladoix side of the hill of Corton.
Corton is the only red grand cru of the Côte de Beaune, a great dome of a hill wrapped by the villages of Aloxe-Corton, Ladoix-Serrigny and Pernand-Vergelesses and divided into more than twenty named climats. Les Hautes Mourottes lies on the Ladoix flank, high on the slope where limestone scree and iron-bearing marl sit close to the surface, ground that gives Pinot Noir firmness and a long life. Armand Heitz has worked his family's vines since 2012 and farms biodynamically, running the estate as a mixed farm with livestock and crops. Fermentation uses a share of whole bunches, and ageing is in barrel with new oak kept in the background.
Give it five to ten years, then decant and serve at around 16 degrees with game, beef or aged cheese.
