Description
Armand Heitz Meursault is a village white from the most famous white wine commune of Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, made by one of the region's more restless young growers.
Meursault sits between Volnay and Puligny-Montrachet on the Côte d'Or, and although it holds no grand cru it is the largest and best known source of white Burgundy, with a broad band of marl and limestone running from the village up to the woods above. Armand Heitz took over his family's vines in the 2010s and farms organically, with a regenerative approach that brings livestock, trees and hedgerows back into the vineyards. The Chardonnay is whole bunch pressed, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in oak barrels, with the proportion of new wood kept restrained.
Serve at around 12 degrees with roast chicken, scallops or a soft washed rind cheese; village Meursault of this standard will hold in the cellar for the better part of a decade.
