Description
Armand Heitz Meursault La Barre is a single vineyard village Meursault from a lieu-dit close to the village itself, in the Côte de Beaune.
Meursault is the largest white wine commune of the Côte d'Or, and its growers have a long habit of bottling named village plots separately instead of folding them all into one cuvée. La Barre is one of those lieux-dits, lying near the village on the gentler ground below the band of premiers crus. Armand Heitz took over his family's vines in the Côte de Beaune in the 2010s and has since become one of the more closely watched young growers of the region, farming organically and building a mixed, regenerative farm around the vineyards, with livestock, trees and hedgerows worked in among the vines. The Chardonnay is whole bunch pressed, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in oak barrels.
Good with roast poultry, pork or richer fish dishes, served at about 12 degrees, and it will keep comfortably for several years.
