Description
Armand Heitz Pommard 1er Cru Pézerolles comes from one of the most highly regarded premiers crus of Pommard, at the northern end of the commune towards Beaune.
Les Pézerolles sits on the upper slope on the Beaune side of Pommard, close to Les Petits Epenots, on lighter and stonier ground than the iron rich clay that gives much of the commune its reputation for weight. It is usually ranked with Les Rugiens and Les Epenots among the village's best sites and is often held up as the most refined of them. Armand Heitz took over his family's vines in the Côte de Beaune in the 2010s and has since become one of the more closely watched young growers of the region, farming organically and building a mixed, regenerative farm around the vineyards, with livestock, trees and hedgerows worked in among the vines.
Serve at cellar temperature with roast lamb, duck or a mushroom risotto, and give it at least five years.
