Arnaud et Sophie Sirugue-Noëllat Bourgogne Côte d'Or Pinot Noir 2023

Arnaud et Sophie Sirugue-Noëllat Bourgogne Côte d'Or Pinot Noir is the everyday red from a Vosne-Romanée family whose other holdings most growers would keep for themselves.

Fruit comes off about 1.9 hectares across Les Champs d'Argent, Les Combes and Les Clos Prieur, three south-east facing sectors of the Côte de Nuits sitting on well-drained calcareous subsoil. Arnaud took full charge of the vines and the cellar in 2024, working without herbicides, holding yields down, picking by hand and sorting in the rows. Ferment runs on indigenous yeast, then twelve months in French oak with none of it new, and bottling happens unfined and unfiltered.

Raspberry, sour cherry and redcurrant lead, with cinnamon and clove behind the fruit and a silky, lightly built palate. Serve at 14 to 16 degrees in a tapered Burgundy glass. It suits roast chicken, mushroom risotto or a tian of Mediterranean vegetables.
