Arnaud Lambert Crémant de Loire NV

Arnaud Lambert Crémant de Loire is a traditional-method sparkling wine of ninety per cent Chenin Blanc with ten per cent Chardonnay.

Arnaud Lambert farms in the Saumur, around Saint-Just-sur-Dive and on the celebrated slope of the Château de Brézé, working limestone and tuffeau soils that suit Chenin Blanc particularly well. The estate is farmed organically and is best known for its still Saumur Blanc and Saumur-Champigny. Crémant de Loire requires whole-bunch pressing, a second fermentation in bottle and at least twelve months on lees, and Lambert's version is built almost entirely on Chenin Blanc, which brings the appellation's characteristic quince, chalk and high natural acidity, with a small addition of Chardonnay softening the attack. It is finished in a dry brut style.

A serious, food-friendly sparkling for the aperitif, oysters, goat's cheese and roast poultry; serve at around eight degrees.
