Arnaud Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin Ma Cuvée 2023

Arnaud Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin Ma Cuvée is a village Gevrey assembled from seven parcels lying south of the village, close to several Premier and Grand Crus.

Gevrey-Chambertin is the largest of the Côte de Nuits communes and its village wines vary widely depending on which side of the appellation they come from. Where the domaine's Les Cinq Terroirs draws on the Brochon side to the north, Ma Cuvée is sourced from just over two hectares to the south, most of it just east of the Combe de Lavaux. The vineyards are Les Epointures, La Justice, Champs-Chenys, Les Champerriers, En Jouise, Clos de l'Arche and Les Platières, the last of these carrying seventy-year-old vines on gravel and limestone. The fruit is mostly destemmed on a SOCMA Cube destemmer, which leaves the berries whole and free of pedicels, though forty per cent whole bunches were retained. Just under a quarter of the barrels were new.

Drinkable now with air, better from three years and good for a decade, it works with duck, roast lamb or aged Comté. Serve at 16-18°C.
