Arnoux-Lachaux Bourgogne Pinot Fin 2020

Arnoux-Lachaux Bourgogne Pinot Fin is made from seven parcels of non-clonal Pinot Fin, including vines planted at Prémeaux in 1959.

Bourgogne is Burgundy's regional appellation, and the gap between a routine example and a serious one comes down to where the fruit grows and how it is farmed. The parcels behind this wine sit within the boundaries of Chambolle-Musigny, Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges: roughly half from Les Bon Batons in Chambolle, with a quarter each from Les Croix Blanches in Vosne and Les Caillots and Grand Chaillot in Nuits. The oldest, at Prémeaux, was planted in 1959 and suffers habitually from millerandage, producing tiny berries and small bunches, and correspondingly concentrated juice. Pinot Fin refers to old, non-clonal plant material rather than a distinct variety. The wine was cropped at about 15 hectolitres per hectare, fermented with whole bunches and raised entirely in mature barrels, which is the same treatment the grand crus receive.

Ready from a year or two and good for eight. Serve at 16-18°C with charcuterie, roast pork or a mushroom tart.
