Description
Ashton Hills Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay is a textural, finely balanced cool-climate white from one of the highest and coolest corners of the Adelaide Hills.
The Piccadilly Valley sits beneath Mount Lofty, where altitude, higher rainfall and cool nights give long, slow ripening and naturally bright acidity. The estate here was planted by Stephen George in the early 1980s and became a benchmark for cool-climate Pinot Noir, and since 2015 it has been owned by Wirra Wirra, who have kept the same small-batch, site-focused approach. This Chardonnay draws on the valley's cool conditions to deliver yellow stone fruit, white nectarine and melon, with creamy texture and a crisp, focused line of acidity carrying through a long, seamless finish.
Chill well, then let it warm a little in the glass, around 8 to 10 degrees. It sits nicely with roast chicken, pork belly, grilled snapper or creamy pasta. Enjoy it now or over the next few years.
